What has Israel done in the past or present that is beneficial to the U.S?

U.S does not get any oil from Israel. U.S gets no money from Israel, they don't fight our wars. So why does U.S give Israel preferential treatment. If there is to be peace in the region U.S must remain neutral much like an arbitrator or a mediator.
